Key Information for Pilots
Vashon Municipal Airport is challenging given large obstructions (trees) on both ends of and along the runway. Pilot's flying into Vashon for the first time should seriously consider being "checked out" by another pilot.
Be mindful of density altitude on warmer days, and the impact it has on most planes safely departing the airport area.
No pattern work: the airport is in a highly noise sensitive area and thus not suitable for training operations.
Obey noise abatement procedures: depart straight out and climb at best angle (Vx) until 900 MSL, those ignoring these rules will be contacted by airport management based on ADS-B tracking.
Night operations are strongly discouraged as there are frequently deer on the runway in the evening.
No helicopter hovering at mid-field near the hangars on the east side of the runway.
Make concise, yet frequent radio calls on 122.9 when in and around the airport environment.
Limited transient parking is available on the SW side of the runway.
